KUZEY GÜNEY

Kuzey Güney is one of my favourite TV series,for its scenario  is really amazing. Not only its scenarist but also the artists of this series are doing their jobs really well. Especially Kıvanç TATLITUĞ, who is both very handsome and accomplished man,represents his abilities not only in this series but also in the earlier series that he took place in. So, either if one looks at his early series or at Kuzey Güney, s/he can easily notice his acting ability.

Apart from this, in this series, the main subject is a conflict between two brothers who loe the same girl at the same time. By the way, Kuzey is less promising than Güney, and Güney is a very ambitious man. Hence , this makes conditions worse. Additionally, there are many people and things that cause Kuzey  troubles all the time.

I think Ece YÖRENÇ and Melek GENÇOĞLU should be congratulated especially on creating such a great scenario.

A REAL FRIEND

In my opinion , one of the vital things is”a good friend” . It is vital, because there are various types of people and,therefore, it is hard to find a real friend to get on with. That’s because a friend might make your life worse or better. I mean, when I look at her face, if I smile instinctiveiy,an deven if it’s my worst day, then she’s  a real friend for me. But this cannot be restricted to happiness. A good friend should also close all the “ bad” doors that will affect her best friend badly. Yet, it’s so hard to find such a person ,especially  in today’s World. To exemplify, we can see that there are many “best friends” who ignores or cares her “ best friend” from case to case. One more important point is that a real friend is a person who cares her best friend’s priorities more than herself. Therefore, feeling that there’s someone who cares about you or deals with your problems more than you do for yourself is a great thing. Hence, everyone should pay attention to find the “best” friend for her.

SHOPPING

Going shopping is an essential part of my life. Because , there’s no need to buy anything to go shopping. Like most ladies,I sometimes go out for shopping just because I feel depressed. Therefore, only wandering in the shopping center  is enough for me to feel happier. Yet , if I go shopping to buy soething that I need , I ,first of all, decide which center to go or what to buy. And then, I go out with someone near me to help me decide while choosing what to buy. When I’m deciding , one of the most important things that I think about whether  to buy or not is the price. I don’t pay money only to the brand. Also, the thing that I’ll buy should bot be useful and qualified. That’s why there are lots of cheap things but when one buys one of them ,it becomes old in the second day. So there is no need to buy such things. Hence, one should be careful of deciding what to buy and be aware of the place s/he is purchasing that thing.

JOURNAL ENTRY-4

In my opinion,the latest slogan for METU is very suitable.For example, the sentence “ We can change the World” sounds really impressing to me. Because there are many things in this World to be changed. And believing that the students from METU are able to do ths is very exciting. From this point, the slogan looks very well-prepared. But there might be a few things that should be added to this. To exemplify, there would be a sentence saying “A person from Metu looks his/her life future without anxiety. That’s because s/he’s from METU. And this means his/her future is under guarantee.”  In addition to this,next to  the sentence “He/She tries to create new knowledge,put it into practice and share it .” ,there would be a new sentence expressing that “He/She does this very patiently”. Because ,for me, doing those three things which are mentioned in the slogan for METU above, requires very patient people and I believe that  each person from Metu is able to do this.All in all, if I were to design a slogan for Metu , I would choose the present one because I think that it’s very suitable fort he people from Metu.

ERROR CORRECTION

1. When ı first heard that ı had been accepted to Middle East Technical Unıversity, ı was disappointed. Because ı did not like Ankara as a city. But my opinions have changed over time dramatically. Because Middle East Technical Unıversity is really a different world in Ankara.

Today,there are lots of universities all around the world in my opinion,most of them aren't able to educate their students enough to find good solutions to the problems that they face.

BEING A STUDENT IN METU -JOURNAL ENTRY 2

     From my viewpoint, being a Metu student makes people imaginative ,creative and critical owing to the fact that it has its own education system which is different from the classic Turkish education system.For example ,there are always questions around the class like 'Why,What is the reason behind it?' during the lessons.Therefore,this pushes the students into thinking and inquiring about any subject all the time.And it makes us "real people" according to me.

     In addition to this, life in Metu has some harships such as different kinds of assignments.Even though it might look an awful thing at first,it is really advantageous because students all around the world need to be improved and this happens only by such assignments as drama,presentation or activities like "DJ of the week".

     Besides,there are lots of students coming from different cities and countries and each of them has his/her own lifestyle.And it makes all the students respect to each other although it is really hard especially in today's world.But it is one more thing that makes us 'real' person.All in all,Metu helps its students discover their abilities and improve themselves both individually and socially.

MY IDEAL UNIVERSITY-JOURNAL ENTRY 3

Today,there are lots of universities all around the world.But,in my opinion,most of them aren't able to educate their students enough to find good solutions to the problems that they face.We can easily see this by watching TV,surfing on the internet or maybe just looking around us.Because there are many people getting graduated from different kinds of universities but they're not even able to know what's going on around them or they don't even try to find good ways to improve the countries yhat they live in. That's a very big problem according to me .But, this can be solved by educating people "truly".And this will be possible with "real" universities.For me, Metu is one of these universities because it not only educates its students of their departments but also helps them look at their lives from different perspectives and makes them understand what real life is.As a result of this,those who get graduated from such universities like Metu become aware of the facts.Finally, a good universty should educate mentally and emotionally mature generations.Moreover, this provides good solutions both to its country and to the world.
